President Deby dies: Mahamat Idriss Deby is the chairman of the transitional military council

Chadian President Idriss Déby died of injuries following clashes with rebel groups in the north of Chad. A military council led by Déby’s son, General-Major Mahamat Idriss Déby Into will govern for the next 18 months, reported Tachad.com (Chad).

Eritrea announces withdrawal of troops from Ethiopia’s Tigray region

Eritrea’s government has said it will start retiring its soldiers from Ethiopia’s Tigray region, recognising for the first time the presence of its troops in the region, reported Modern Ghana (pan-African).
