Zambian president to seek re-election in August vote

Zambian President Edgar Lungu has officially been adopted by Zambia’s ruling party The Patriotic Front as its candidate for the August elections. Opposition have criticised the move, stating that he is not eligible to stand as he has already served two terms, reported Africanews (pan-African).

Afwerki in Sudan for Dam mediation

Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki arrived in Khartoum on Tuesday for talks with Sudanese officials amid tensions over a protracted border dispute between Sudan and Ethiopia, reported Horn Observer (pan-African).

Kenya and Tanzania strengthen trade pact

Kenya News Agency (Kenya) reported that Kenya and Tanzania have announced a number of trade deals on the first day of Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s official visit to Nairobi, where she met with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.
