Mo Ibrahim Foundation welcomes two new members to its Council

The Mo Ibrahim Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to its Council.

Ali S. Hadi, Ph.D. is a Distinguished University Professor and former Chair, Department of Mathematics and Actuarial Science at The American University in Cairo (AUC). He was the Vice Provost and Director of Graduate Studies and Research at AUC. He founded the Actuarial Science Program at AUC in 2004 and the Data Science Program at AUC in 2019, each of which is a four-year programme leading to a bachelor of science degree. Dr Hadi is currently a Stephen H. Weiss Presidential Fellow and Professor Emeritus at Cornell University, USA. Dr Hadi is also a key member of the Ibrahim Index of African Governance (IIAG) Expert Panel since its inception.

Nasi Rwigema is Co-President of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation’s Now Generation Network, which focusses on building a practical, high-impact network of young African leaders. He is also Head of Product at The Alliance, where he has contributed to scaling a multi-community EdTech platform through product-led growth and AI-powered solutions. Previously, he founded Umwuga, a jobs marketplace supporting low- and un-skilled workers, and led renewable energy and infrastructure investments across Africa at Metier Private Equity. He earlier served as Managing Director of Solafrica Energy and began his career as an aerospace engineer. He holds an MBA from London Business School and is a Mo Ibrahim Foundation Scholar.

Both have been participating actively to our Foundation work for a very long time, and their combined expertise across academia, data science, technology, entrepreneurship and Africa’s development challenges is a key asset to our mission. I am also very happy to specifically include in the Council our Now Generation Network views and opinions. I look forward to working closely with our new members as we continue to promote sound leadership and governance in Africa.
