Lesotho's new Prime Minister Moeketsi Majoro sworn in

Moeketsi Majoro was sworn in as Lesotho’s new Prime Minister on 20 May, one day after his predecessor, former Mosotho Prime Minister, Thomas Thabane resigned, The East African (pan-African) reported.

Burundi election: Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp blocked

BBC News (international) reported that Burundi has blocked all social media channels on election day, as voters went to the polls to elect a replacement for long-serving Burundian President, Pierre Nkurunziza.

UN chief calls for international action to help Africa in COVID-19 response

United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres has called for international action to help Africa deal with COVID-19, CGTN (international) reported. He reiterated calls for a comprehensive debt framework, including an across-the-board debt standstill for countries unable to service their debt, followed by targeted debt relief.
