Tanzanian opposition party, Chadema, announced that its Chairman, Freeman Mbowe, was ambushed in a “politically motivated” attack by unidentified people, reported The East African.

The Ethiopian parliament has voted to allow Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed to stay in office beyond his mandate, after elections planned for August were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Burundi president Pierre Nkurunziza dies of heart attack – govt

Africanews (pan-African) reported that Burundian President, Pierre Nkurunziza has died, with government statements indicating that his death was the result of a heart attack. Nkurunziza, who had been in power for 15 years, was due to step down in August.
