Baroness Valerie Amos is a long-time campaigner and advocate for human rights, social justice and equality issues. She is currently Master of University College, University of Oxford.
Baroness Amos is a former Under-Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Co-Ordinator at the United Nations. Between 2003-2007, she was a member of the British Cabinet, where she worked as Secretary of State for International Development, before becoming Leader of the House of Lords and Lord President of the Council.
Baroness Amos is involved in numerous charitable and international organisations, including the United Nations Foundation, the Mastercard Foundation, the Institute for Government and the Amos Bursary.
