Abdoulie Janneh participated in a Policy Dialogue on Unconstitutional Changes of Governments in Africa

Abdoulie Janneh, Executive Director, Liaison with Governments and Institutions in Africa, participated in a Policy Dialogue on Unconstitutional Changes of Governments in Africa organised by the Department of Political Affairs (DPA) of the African Union Commission (AUC), from 14-16 July 2014 in Pretoria, South Africa.
During the opening ceremony, chaired by the Chief Justice of the Republic of South Africa, Mr Janneh delivered a speech in which he emphasised the importance of a strong and credible constitutional framework in African countries for the implementation of developmental policies and for their socio-economic transformation – as measured by the category Security and Rule of Law of the IIAG.
Mr Janneh also chaired the central session of the workshop under the theme Unconstitutional Changes of Governments and Popular Uprisings in Africa. The workshop was attended by 50 participants ranging from AU organs, RECS, state actors, non-state actors (including media and civil society) to representatives of private sector.
