Mo Ibrahim Foundation participates in East Africa: Cradle of Humanity and the Future Event
02 December, 2024
The Mo Ibrahim Foundation's research team participated in the event titled East Africa: Cradle of Humanity and the Future, which took place in Brussels on 30 November 2024.
The focal point of the event was sustainable economic development in East Africa and across the continent. A key issue in the discussions was the importance of accessible data and research for driving economic progress.
Our representatives presented MIF research on finance, climate, and shared insights from the 2024 Ibrahim Index of African Governance, which was last launched in October.
Hoodo Richter, MIF researcher, contributed to Roundtable #1, which concentrated on the role of natural resources in sustainable development.
Meanwhile, Tracy Kituyi, MIF junior researcher and lead of the Now Generation Network, participated in Roundtable #3, which addressed the role of the diaspora in investment and saving.
Our researchers also engaged with numerous East African innovators, entrepreneurs, students, and leaders at the event.
Held at the Dome Eventhall, the gathering featured discussions on East Africa’s development, emerging technologies, and cultural diversity. The event was organised by East African entrepreneurs Sarah Ndikumwami, Ornella Gateka and Kevin Mberimfura.
