Mini webinar series - Financing Africa: Where is the money?

This mini webinar series is dedicated to the theme of Financing Africa and is composed of three sessions:

  • Assessing Africa’s sustainable development needs.
  • Evaluate the resources the continent receives from partners.
  • Exploring how Africa can leverage its own wealth to bridge its financial gap.

Based on key findings from the 2024 NGN survey of over a hundred African young experts on Africa’s financing agenda, the webinar will serve as a platform to discuss youth perspectives and recommendations.

PART 1: Assessing Africa’s needs (Friday, 5 April)

This first session of the webinar series on Financing Africa will unpack key results from the 2024 NGN survey on assessing Africa’s financial needs. Besides focussing on sustainable development and climate financial gaps, the discussion will also be an opportunity to unpack the financial priorities for the continent from the perspective of Africa’s youth.

PART 2: Assessing the current supply from non-African partners (bilateral, multilateral, private)(Friday, 3 May)

This second session of the webinar series on Financing Africa will unpack key results from the 2024 NGN survey on assessing the supply of financial resources to the continent. Besides focusing on crucial issues such as debt servicing or the global financial architecture, the discussion will also be an opportunity to unpack key recommendations from the perspective of Africa’s youth.

PART 3: Leveraging Africa's potential resources (Friday, 7 June)

This third session of the webinar series on Financing Africa will unpack key results from the 2024 NGN survey on exploring Africa’s potential to leverage its own resources. Besides focusing on crucial issues such as monetising green assets, foreign direct investment and domestic resource mobilisation, the discussion will also be an opportunity to unpack key recommendations from the perspective of Africa’s youth.
