Launch of the Africa Europe Foundation

Co-founded by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation and Friends of Europe, in partnership with ONE and the African Climate Foundation, the Africa Europe Foundation was launched in Brussels on 2 December. The launch was attended by, among others, President Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, Charles Michel, president of the European Council, Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary General of United Nations, Aliko Dangote, founder and chair, Dangote Group.

The Africa/Europe Foundation will facilitate strategic dialogue between diversified stakeholders – institutions, governments, business, the financial sector and civil society organisations – from both neighbouring continents. It will act as incubator to unlock new opportunities – projects, tools and processes – that can reset and bolster Africa-Europe relations.

Youth – the 'Now Generation' – will play a vital role in this new initiative.

As a priority, five Strategic Groups have already been launched: Health, Digital, Agriculture, Energy, Transport and Connectivity.
