Jeri is a documentary photographer born and raised in Kenya. She specialises in documenting Kenya’s untold stories, people and environment. Jeri has taken part in two joint photography exhibitions and held her first solo exhibition focusing on the majesty of people living with Albinism in July 2016. Her work documenting the Unexpected Beauty around Kenya was featured in the Safaricom Calendar 2015. She was also selected for the top three 2013 finalists in the EyeSee Africa Photo Contest. Photography for Jeri is a way of living. It is a passion as well as a way to understand and connect to the world around her.
Explaining the message of her photograph, Jeri said:
This is an image of a boy and his fish. It was taken on an island in the middle of Lake Turkana, Kenya. It is one of my favourite places because of its tranquillity, enhanced by the very few ripples in the water. My prayer for my continent is that in the next ten years, peace will prevail, and children will grow up ignorant to the ugly face of war. I hope that every child has access to food and a safe place to play. I hope that every African child can grow up like a child should; carefree and happy.
