Moussa Faki Mahamat

H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat is a Chadian diplomat and statesman with vast experience in governance and international affairs. He served as Chad’s Prime Minister (2003–2005) and Foreign Minister (2008–2017), where he played a key role in Chad’s UN Security Council membership, regional counterterrorism and diplomatic efforts in Libya, Sudan and Mali.

From 2017 to 2025, he was Chairperson of the African Union Commission, leading major Continental initiatives, including key peace negotiations in Sudan, South Sudan and the Central African Republic.

H.E Moussa Faki Mahamat has championed African-led security solutions and played a key role in the establishment of regional organisations such as the G5 Sahel and the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) to combat Boko Haram in the Lake Chad region. His leadership has been instrumental in strengthening Africa’s diplomatic presence on the global stage.
