Mo speaks to young leaders on Africa at the 15th LBS Africa Summit
10 May, 2016
Mo Ibrahim delivered the keynote address at the 15th annual Africa Business Summit hosted by the London Business School Africa Club, held at the Landmark Hotel, London, on Saturday 7 May. Dr Ibrahim set the scene on where we stand as a continent as well as shaping the day’s discourse.
The keynote was followed by a lively and frank Q&A, taking from the day’s theme Ukweli, between Mo Ibrahim and a lively young audience.
Mo Ibrahim shared data from the Ibrahim Index of African Governance which provided the base for discussion. Key comments:
- the Mo Ibrahim prize brings unsung heroes out of the shadows – the focus in Africa has been on its bad leaders
- you cannot speak about Africa but about countries
- it is not easy to have access to data in Africa
- since independence Africa hasn’t managed it’s human and other resources properly
- African countries have neglected the diversification of their economies.
