A host of distinguished guests, including the President of Cabo Verde, H.E. José Maria Neves, paid tribute to the extraordinary achievements of President Pires. Ibrahim Prize Committee member, Mme Aïcha Bah Diallo, shared a video tribute honouring the life and achievements of President Pires.

In her remarks Mme Aïcha highlighted President Pires’ integral role in transforming Cabo Verde into a model of democracy, stability and increased prosperity during his two terms in office and his continued commitment to promoting good governance and leadership on the continent.

As we reflect on the progress achieved under President Pires’ leadership, we are reminded of what is possible through a commitment to good governance and sound leadership. Amidst pressing global issues and ongoing challenges in Africa, let us continue to learn from these successes and come together to enable the continent’s future progress for years to come.
