Nigeria to sign AfCFTA
The Guardian (Nigeria) reported that the Nigerian government has announced it will sign the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) at the upcoming meeting of the African Union, to be held in Niger next week.
Sudan protesters, generals resume talks over civilian rule
Sudan’s ruling military council and opposition leaders have resumed negotiations towards a transition to civilian rule. This comes after 11 people lost their lives during countrywide pro-democracy demonstrations last weekend.
Mauritania's new president takes office on August 1, victory validated
Mauritania’s Constitutional Council has confirmed Mohamed Ould Ghazouani as the country’s President-elect, reported Africanews (pan-African). Ould Ghazouani has been elected to a five-year term, and is to be inaugurated at the beginning of August.
