Mo Ibrahim Foundation Board Member and Prize Committee Chair, Dr Salim Ahmed Salim was invited by Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan to address 24 African and international Heads of State, as well as a host of global leaders at a Nigerian conference.
The One-Day Summit Level of Nigeria’s Centenary Celebration took place in Abuja on the 27th February 2014. It commemorated 100 years of the amalgamation of the Northern and Southern States of Africa’s most populous nation. Dr Salim’s speech: Human Security as an Emerging Paradigm for Promoting Peace in Africa, highlighted key findings of the latest 2013 IIAG and one of its four main categories: Human Development.
He stated:
The Mo Ibrahim Foundation in its search for the answers related towards the development of its Good Governance agenda in the continent, asserts that human security is an important concept that cannot be ignored.
