2014 Ibrahim Fellows Announced

Today the Mo Ibrahim Foundation announced the three 2014 Ibrahim Fellows. Established in 2010, the Ibrahim Leadership Fellowships is a selective programme designed to identify and support potential African leaders of the future. The Ibrahim Leadership Fellows receive mentoring from the current leaders of three key multilateral institutions. The fellows will each spend one year in the executive offices of either the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the African Development Bank (AfDB) or the International Trade Centre (ITC). The 2014 Ibrahim Fellows, chosen from among a pool of over 1,000 applicants, are:

Carl Manlan, an economist from Côte d’Ivoire

He will be working at UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in the office of Carlos Lopes

Carl Malan joins the programme from The Global Fund as a Fund Portfolio Manager. He was responsible for programmatic and financial negotiations with national stakeholders in order to ensure the appropriate investment of funds for Aids, tuberculosis and malaria.

Charlotte Ashamu, an economic development practitioner from Nigeria

She will be working at African Development Bank (AfDB) in the office of Donald Kaberuka.

Charlotte Ashamu joins the programme from International Finance Corporation as an officer in the advisory services department. She was responsible for executing multi-country programs to support the growth of small-medium enterprises across Africa.

Weyinmi Omamuli, an economist from Nigeria

She will be working at International Trade Centre (ITC) in the office of Arancha Gonzalez

Weyinmi Omamuli joins the programme from Oxford Analytica where she was a Senior Africa Analyst. She was responsible for providing strategic direction and coordination for the research programme to ensure that clients and the business receive the most accurate, unique and insightful analysis of economic, business and political developments in the region.
